I’m Roshan Dhamala, a Senior Data Engineer focused on how enterprise data platforms become reliable foundations for analytics and AI.

I joined Veeva Systems as a Data Engineer in January 2022 and moved into the Senior Data Engineer role in January 2025. My work has helped evolve an initial Databricks proof of concept into a production enterprise lakehouse.

I work across ingestion, modeling, orchestration, governance, performance, and production design. I also lead architecture reviews and mentor engineers on Spark optimization and data modeling.

My applied AI work includes document processing, structured extraction, RAG, and vector search. I’m especially interested in making AI useful in business workflows—with reliable data, clear permissions, and an operating cost that makes sense.

BACKGROUND

A software engineering foundation.

I earned an M.S. in Software Engineering in December 2021 and a B.S. in Computer Science in December 2020, both at Texas Tech University. Earlier internships at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Discover Financial Services involved ingestion, modeling, validation, and reporting.

DataNepal gives me a public place to make engineering decisions inspectable: a shared geographic model, source provenance, and a static publishing architecture.

BEYOND THE PLATFORM

Teams, events, and community.

I volunteered in media operations at Dallas Stadium during the FIFA World Cup 2026 and served as a flag bearer at Copa América 2024.

PLATFORM OWNERSHIP

Broader platform ownership.

I’m focused on increasing platform ownership: defining architecture standards, connecting systems, and leading technical decisions across the data lifecycle. Architecture reviews, mentoring, and shared engineering patterns are how I build broader influence across teams.
